Dutch Heritage Homestead is a 22-acre regenerative farming operation in development in Kansas City, Kansas (Wyandotte County). We're designing land, water systems, and structures from first principles, bringing Dutch water engineering tradition to American soil. Every decision gets documented as we go.

Our Story

Why Dutch
Heritage

A love story that spanned an ocean, Ron's Dutch homeland, and Ashley's Dutch heritage as the daughter of a Dutch mother.

Twenty years ago, Ashley traveled to the Netherlands to study. While there, she met Ron at her aunt's grand café. They fell in love, but when her studies ended, Ashley returned home to Kansas, and life carried them in different directions.

Although they were apart for nearly fifteen years, they never completely lost touch. Then, in February 2023, Ashley called Ron and asked a simple question: were they going to keep dancing around what they felt, or were they finally going to do something about it? This time, they chose the second option.

Their relationship quickly grew into something lasting. In April 2025, they purchased 22 acres in Kansas City, Kansas, Ashley's hometown, and began building a future together. Ron moved from the Netherlands in September 2025, and the dream of Dutch Heritage Homestead began to take shape.

Dutch Heritage Homestead is named for the things that brought us here: a love story that spanned an ocean, Ron's Dutch homeland, and Ashley's Dutch heritage as the daughter of a Dutch mother.
